TERMS AND AGREEMENT
Orion’s Belt – Scholastro Pty Ltd

Welcome to Orion’s Belt, a platform provided by Scholastro Pty Ltd ("we," "us," "our"). This agreement outlines the terms and conditions governing the use of our platform by schools, teachers, students, and parents. By accessing or using Orion’s Belt, you agree to comply with these terms and all applicable Australian laws, including the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), the Australian Consumer Law (ACL), and the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) where relevant.
We comply with all applicable Australian Data Privacy and Cyber Security Acts, including:
Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) – Ensuring the secure handling of student and teacher data under the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).
Notifiable Data Breaches (NDB) Scheme – We will notify affected parties and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) in case of a data breach.
Security of Critical Infrastructure Act 2018 – Ensuring our EdTech platform meets cyber security standards and protects Australian education infrastructure.
ST4S (Safer Technologies for Schools) – We align with Australian school system security and privacy frameworks to ensure responsible EdTech deployment.
We collect, store, and process only necessary educational data with strict security measures.
Student & Teacher Data: Includes names, class records, grades, and learning analytics.
Parental Data: Includes parent contact details used for communication.
Usage Data: We collect anonymized user interaction data for platform improvement.
Data Storage: Securely stored in Microsoft Azure data centers located in Australia.
Data Retention: We retain data only as long as necessary for educational purposes and delete inactive accounts within 12 months.
Third-Party Sharing: We do not sell or share data with unauthorized third parties. Limited sharing applies for educational integration partners, with strict compliance to privacy laws.
We implement industry-leading security standards, including:
End-to-End Encryption (AES-256) for data in transit and at rest.
Role-Based Access Controls (RBAC) to restrict sensitive information.
Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) for school administrators and teachers.
Annual Security Audits & ST4S Compliance Checks to maintain high standards.
Regular Data Backups & Disaster Recovery Plans to ensure continuity.
Users must:
Use Orion’s Belt only for educational purposes.
Keep login credentials secure and report any suspicious activity.
Follow school policies and relevant Australian laws when using the platform.
Obtain parental consent for any student under 18 where required.
Orion’s Belt integrates with approved third-party tools (e.g., LMS, student databases). We ensure all third-party providers comply with Australian privacy laws and ST4S security guidelines.
Schools and teachers must obtain verifiable parental consent before enrolling students under 18.
Parents can request access, correction, or deletion of their child’s data at any time under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
In case of a breach:
Immediate containment of the issue and security assessment.
Notification to affected schools, parents, and regulatory bodies (if required).
Implementation of corrective measures and updates to security protocols.
While we take all reasonable steps to protect data and ensure platform reliability, we do not guarantee uninterrupted service. Schools and users agree not to hold Orion’s Belt liable for indirect damages, including data loss due to third-party service failures.
Schools may terminate service at any time, and we will facilitate secure data transfer or deletion upon request.
Orion’s Belt reserves the right to suspend accounts found in violation of these terms.
These terms are governed by the laws of Australia, and any disputes must be resolved under the jurisdiction of Australian courts.
